If you could throw a rock about 20 miles, then you can say that I grew up a stone's throw from New York City, across the river in suburban, Northern New Jersey. It wasn't long before I found myself commuting into the Big Apple on a daily basis for work.
Soon though, in the late 1980s, Silicon Valley and the computer industry brought me out to the Left Coast and gave me the opportunity to travel across most of the country. Back then, free time was taken for granted and I had time for golf, hiking, spur of the moment vacations and even took up flying for the thrill of it.
An eight year stint living in Lake Tahoe taught me the importance of appreciating nature and how not to point my skis downhill while trying to stand up after a wipeout.
Soon though I was a family man and the family needed to get out of snow country. Phoenix, Arizona and the dry heat seemed to be the answer after Tahoe winters that dropped on average 10 feet of snow in our driveway every year.
Now, my two children are at an age where they are able to participate in activities like camping and fishing. My wife and I are enjoying teaching our children about all the world has to offer, primarily in the form of hobbies.
Fishing, camping, hiking, collecting, sports, travel, everything is viewed through the perspective of sharing these great activities with our children.
It is from this background and my ongoing work with Vintage New Media, that this website was launched.
Hopefully, you'll find my articles, and the articles of others helpful, interesting and at times motivational.
Good health, family and friends, and your religious beliefs form the foundation of life. But hobbies and the activities you do for fun add the spice to life that make it interesting.
